Our Story

Sometimes you have to travel back in time to find the One

Timothy and Rachael met while volunteering at Pioneer Land, a week-long event at the county fair that teaches people about pioneer life. Rachael first noticed Timothy while he was splitting wood and decided she needed to learn the name of this man. He was distantly polite to her and this confused her at first. She sought out more ways to speak to him and was undeterred by his coolness. When a friend needed a taillight on her car fixed, Rachael volunteered to take said friend’s keys so Timothy could fix the lights. It was during this task that Timothy revealed he had a girlfriend. Rachael was rather devastated to learn this information and did her best to just be a friend. But nobody had caught her eye or tugged on her heart strings quite like Timothy did. He made her feel safe and heard and he was kind to people he barely knew and worked well with children. The fair ended and Rachael and Timothy had no communication for five months. In that time, they both did some reflection on their lives and thought of each other often. Rachael realized her standards did exist in a real person and Timothy began to think of what his life might be like if he changed course. Christmas in Pioneer Land came in early December and Rachael and Timothy both volunteered for the weekend. This time Rachael was in the school house mostly alone and Timothy seemed all too eager to bring her fire-wood. They stay late talking to watch the fire go out. Timothy learns more about her and starts to admire her qualities the way she admired his. He loves her ability to quote scripture, her creativity in her clothing making, and her warm kindness to him and others. They part ways and Rachael thinks “That’s it! I will be alone forever now because I will never meet anyone who will compare to him.” But less than a week later he asks her out. Their first date is to the La Porte Historical Society Museum where they shyly flirt. At dinner that night they discuss their personal beliefs and what they want out of life. They both can’t stop smiling and shaking their heads as the other describes exactly what they envision the future to be. The days turn to weeks and they spend more and more time together, and fall more and more in love. They make a point to see each other every day, even if it is just for a few minutes. They are surprised and delighted to find they work so well together and often jokingly ask "Where have you been all my life?" And now they have decided to live happily ever after.
