Updates to the Wedding and Reception

Update: In light of COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to let you know our wedding is going forward but at a new time of 11:30 am. See the Events tab for details. Your health and safety are a top priority for us and we completely understand if you can no longer attend the wedding. Please update your online RSVP as soon as possible. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the reception is very small and is limited to immediate family members and a few friends. We are deeply sorry that we cannot accommodate more of you at the reception. It is our hope to connect with all those unable to attend the reception later this year. All guests are required to wear a face mask. A limited number of face masks will be available. Thank you for understanding! Updated as of June 3, 2020.

How We Met & The Proposal

Committed Catholic Couple: Soulmates

Maureen and Timothy share a deep love for the Holy Catholic Faith, which was the cause of their frequent encounters over the past several years as they attended many of the same events. Whether it was a 40 Days for Life prayer vigil, parish event, or charity dinner, their paths would providentially cross. Maureen recalls that, after listening to Timothy on Catholic Radio, she began to feel a growing interest in reaching out to him, as she was drawn to his keen intellect and charming personality and felt that their mutual interests would form the basis for a solid friendship. During the Catholic Radio dinner in the fall of 2018, Maureen approached Timothy and shared her feeling that they were supposed to be friends and suggested that they meet for lunch. Soon after, they were spending time together getting to know each other. The couple happily discovered not only that they shared similar values and had a very similar worldview, but that they each had experienced spiritual growth by choosing to turn to God in challenging times - and in a special way to the Blessed Virgin Mary - whom they credit for bringing them together at just the right time. By the spring of 2019, they were dating and discerning a call to Holy Matrimony. Timothy proposed to Maureen at St. Patrick Catholic Church after Mass in front of the Pieta statue on December 8, 2019, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Maureen shares that Timothy drew her attention to the fact that the Pieta shows us how completely Jesus poured out His life for us..."and then he said that he wanted to do the same for me!" Maureen's family has also fallen in love with Tim, and told her that if she had turned down his proposal, they were going to adopt him!

Catholic Thoughts on Marriage & God's Fatherly love for us

“We are beings created in love and for love, as ‘love is the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being’ (FC 11). For this reason it is imperative for spouses to meet Christ, the source of love and the one who ‘fully reveals man to himself’ (GS 22). In marriage, in their one flesh union, man and woman are to live as the new man by forming a communion of persons, through a sincere gift of self. Love forms the inner dynamism of family life and of conjugal communion.” - John Paul II’s vision of family and marriage for the New Evangelization by Rolando Moreno. "We are all God's children, fashioned by His divine hands after His own image and likeness. From all eternity He has thought of us; before time was, we were present to His mind; and through the long ages which have passed away since first this world was made, God busies Himself with our creation, He has longed for the hour when He could call us His children." - Fr. William Doyle, SJ. (KIA 1917 Army Chaplain).

Get to know Maureen

Maureen Devlin grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, one of 5 children - and the only girl! She attended Catholic grade school (St. Malachy), High schools (Cardinal Ritter and Brebeuf) and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1989 (B.S. in biology). After working for a few years, Maureen went on to earn her J.D. from IU School of Law in Indianapolis in 1995. Maureen has one son, Kyle, age 27, who currently lives and works in Lebanon, Indiana, not far from Maureen's parents. Maureen has worked for the Indiana Attorney General's office since 2008, and her previous legal experience includes 12 years spent as a Deputy Prosecutor handling cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides and sex crimes. Outside of work, Maureen is an active Catholic. Over the years, Maureen has participated in the music ministry, teaching the faith, and promoting devotion to the Divine Mercy at her home parish of Mary, Queen of Peace in Danville, Indiana; however, her involvement with the pro-life movement and with several prayer groups in Indianapolis have made her a frequent visitor to other area parishes in the Indianapolis area as well. Maureen also enjoys playing the piano, board games, and going to the gym...in that order! She has never been married, and has been pleasantly surprised by the turn of events that brought her and Timothy together!

The significance of our wedding date

Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help

The wedding date of June 27 is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This is another beautiful title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Timothy and Maureen intentionally chose this date for their wedding ceremony but were unaware at the time of the connection between the date and the venue of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. They have come to learn that the original image or icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help adorns the church of St. Alphonsus in Rome.
