Our foundation is rooted in friendship established in the '90s and early '00s at St. Alphonsus Parish School. Tim was a grade ahead of Jill. In middle school, they were a part of a small group of friends called "The Marble Snatchers". Comics were drawn and written about this awesome group, and Jill and Tim were able to spend time together as friends. This group all went to go see the M. Night Shyamalan thriller "The Village" where everyone anxiously held hands only to be not scared at all. Tim has a distinct memory of his dad dropping him and Jill off to see the hit comedy "Anchorman". Tim played on the middle school varsity basketball team coached by his dad and Jill's dad. Jill was on the cheerleading team that attended all home games. Jill has a vivid memory of Tim stealing her brand new Fall Out Boy CD right out of her hands in the cafeteria while exclaiming "yoink!". The CD was never to be seen by Jill again. They both then attended the same pizza-named high school: Totino-Grace. Tim was involved in show choir while Jill played volleyball and ran track. After graduation, Tim went off to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and Jill went to Drake University. They both received their undergraduate degrees and journeyed through their early adult lives. Jill stayed in Des Moines for a year after graduating where she worked in the nonprofit sector. Tim traveled to the Dominican Republic to perform in an a capella group. Jill moved back to the Twin Cities in the fall of 2014, and Tim moved back in the spring of 2016. FINALLYYYYY at the end of 2018, Jill and Tim both attended an end-of-year holiday party hosted by Fulton Brewing for all brewery industry staff across the state. Jill was working part-time at Lakes and Legends, and Tim was in his first full-time brewing position at The Freehouse. He lip-synced to "You Be Good To Mama" from Chicago, she swooned, they danced, and decided to go on a date the next week after time with family over the holidays. Jill and Tim went to The Bulldog in Uptown, continued to enjoy each other's company, and made things official in January of 2019. The rest has led you all to this page :)
Jill's Girls Who Talk Too Much (girlfriends she met at Drake University) crew had given her a giftcard for Owamni for her birthday in 2021 that had yet to be used by the beginning of 2023 due to Owamni's popularity. SO, Jill looked at Owamni's reservations the day before Thanksgiving in 2022 hoping to be able to find a table in the next few months. She was able to secure a table for 2 at 5:30 on 1.21.2023, a couple of days after Jill and Tim's 4 year anniversary. Sneaky Tim then planned this dinner to be their engagement dinner. After enjoying an phenomenal meal rooted in Minnesota Indigenous culture, Tim was sipping on a beer while Jill was finishing a glass of wine. They talked about their future, moving into their 34th Avenue South rental home soon, the happiness they have found together for the past 4 years, and how in love they are with each other. Tim told Jill that he got her an anniversary gift. Jill thought, "WELP, we didn't talk about exchanging gifts, and I don't have anything for him!" Tim then got down on one knee and asked Jill to marry him. Complete and utter shock was all over Jill's face as she asked "Are you serious??" Of course, she said, "yes!" Complimentary bubbles from the staff at Owamni were enjoyed. The night continued with dessert and drinks at The Aster Cafe, basking in the newly engaged energy.
