Melody and Timothy’s love story began in Memphis, the summer of 2017. Two bored, single, 21 year olds who swiped right on Tinder, had carried onto to being each other’s Instagram crushes, exchanging heart eye emojis with flirty small talk every once in a while. In July 2017, the same day Melody left her job at the Peabody hotel, Timothy messaged her, asking how her day was. She was shy at first, because she just had a terrible day. But she wanted to talk and he was offering to listen. They instantly clicked, exchanged numbers, and talked for hours. Eventually, they talked everyday for the rest of summer while she went home to stay with her parents in California. When she returned the next fall semester, they were finally in the same timezone and began to pursue dating. On September 15, they finally met in person for their 1st date at a gospel spoken word event as Melody’s friends sat in the row behind her, spying on their date. After the event, Tim helped the event volunteers breakdown and stack chairs, and left Melody waiting in the sanctuary, all alone. After he had finished, they realized they were starving and most restaurants were closed, except one: Wingstop. Mel could tell Tim was so nervous. He ate slow, and was making an obvious effort not to make a mess with the hot wings. Meanwhile, Mel was more concerned at how tall this man was in real life. She answered questions with questions, giving him a hard time to see what he was about (her Dad and brothers taught her well). However, Tim was not intimidated. In fact, he seemed amused. Before finishing dinner, Tim, being a gentleman, politely asked Mel on a second date to continue their conversation. It was hard to say no. Five days later (Sept 20th), Tim asked her to be his girlfriend. Surprised he was moving so fast, Mel told him to think about it for a week. Exactly 7 days later, on September 27th, Tim respectfully asked again, saying he knew what he wanted last week and didn’t want to waste more time, and Mel blushed while she said yes. From walks through Cancer Survivor's Park, to Tim showing up to Mel's tennis matches (uninvited) shouting in support, they soon became each other's person; navigating through life, hand in hand. In their time together, they’ve made countless memories, alongside those of you reading this today. Please join them this fall, in their favorite place, now their Home, as they say "I do", to celebrate their 7 year anniversary of being together and the union of their marriage.
