Kiran was born and raised in Kenya, before moving to the United States for college where she studied mechanical engineering. She worked in engineering for a few years, before deciding she wanted to be a Hollywood actress instead. When that didn’t pan out, she ended up in Medicine. Tim was born Mennonite (like Amish) in Pennsylvania and moved to Ohio with his family when he was 14. After a literal “around the world in 80 days” type journey for his Rumspringa, he left the community to pursue Medicine in New York. Having read all the books that talk about medical culture, he quickly realized that engineering was a much better field (Kiran agrees), and after university, ended up in California, designing very cool medical devices. Strangely, he too had an interest in movie making, albeit Directing, and spent some time in New York, pursuing his behind-camera skills. Tim and Kiran met on Hinge, whilst both living in the Bay Area. Tim stated on his profile, that he liked people with interesting backstories. Kiran proclaimed that she had one for him, but stated he had to meet up with her to find out more. He took her up on the challenge. Their first date was at an outdoor brewery in San Mateo, at the end of COVID. They had so much to talk about, that they exceeded the 2-hour COVID limit on restaurant stays, and had to leave. 4 hours later, they were still wandering around a nearby (now closed) shopping center, still talking. At some point during their wander, Tim reached down and took Kiran's hand. She decided at that moment, that this was something special. It was the first of many dates to follow. They got engaged on April 1st, 2023. And no, it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke.
