FAQs

Question

Tim and Katie, you’re kind of into your Catholic faith - is there anything I should know about Mass?

Answer

First, we’re so glad that y’all are celebrating with us in our faith tradition! A couple of notes: ⁃ We encourage our guests to make use of the confessional before Mass (more info further down)! For those who are not baptized and/or not practicing Catholics, we ask you to refrain from receiving the Eucharist, as receiving it is a symbol of unity with, and belief in, the Church’s teachings - for those who are not Catholic, you’re welcome to remain in your pew or come up to receive a blessing from our priests! ⁃ We will be making use of the beautiful Communion rail that St. Cecilia’s has! For those who don’t have a medical condition/bad knees that would prevent you from kneeling, we encourage you to kneel at the rail to receive your blessing/Eucharist as we ponder this great gift together. For those who need to do so, you may stand at the rail to receive.

Question

I don’t see my child under 2 years old on the RSVP - can I bring him/her to the wedding/reception?

Answer

Yes! The little ones under 2 years old aren't included in the headcount for food but we encourage you to bring them to celebrate with us!

Question

Will there be confessions available before Mass?

Answer

Yes! We are working with the parish and our priests to allow confessions before the wedding Mass from 12:00-12:40 PM the day of the wedding in the confessionals in the sanctuary at St. Cecilia’s. All are welcome, please come join us in the Sacrament of Reconciliation! (Confessional screens and face to face available) There will also be confessions after our wedding Mass at St. Cecilia prior to their 3:30PM Saturday vigil Mass from around 2:30-3:30PM.

Question

Are there any planned events outside of the Mass and reception?

Answer

No, but we encourage folks to check out our Things to Do page and get together on their own!

Question

Will there be a shuttle to/from the hotel?

Answer

We have not organized a shuttle service to/from the hotel, but with the proximity to the city, rideshare options should be available - please plan ahead!

Question

When is the latest I can arrive to the church?

Answer

To ensure there will be no disruptions to the ceremony, doors to the church will be closed promptly at 12:45PM the day of the wedding - we encourage you to come early and spend a little extra time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament!

Question

I have dietary restrictions - what are the food options at the reception?

Answer

We will be having a taco/nacho bar for dinner! It’s all self-serve and each item is separate, so this should mitigate many of the possible dietary/food allergen issues. If you have any specific questions, you can reach out to us at winteringwedding2024@gmail.com.

Question

What time does the reception end?

Answer

Reception ends at 9:30 PM, but y’all, we’re having this party AT A BREWERY! It’ll be open after the reception is over, so you’re welcome to stay longer and find a space to hang out.

Question

How are we sending the happy couple off at the end of the night?

Answer

We’re planning on a Wintering family tradition: for those there at the end of the reception, we’ll have white handkerchiefs to wave to us as we go out. Please line up from the reception area doors to the front doors of the building. Tim’s grandma Wintering would wave with a white handkerchief to those who were leaving. When you see a white handkerchief waving and sending you off, it means someone loves you!
