Abby's Version: Abby noticed Tim when he was first brought in to help rebuild and lead the Next Gen ministries at Oakhills Church, but would not display any hint of her attraction to Tim for two years. However, she admired Tim's passion to serve, his leadership with humility, his wisdom, his faithfulness in the Lord, and his charm that should come with a warning label. Abby's friends and community all encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and date Tim, but that didn't happen until the Lord gave her a confirming and comforting sign years later. But if you asked Abby, she would admit there were brief eye-locking moments, sporadic flirting back and forth, including some heavy social media stalking on her end. Ironically, Abby also made it nearly impossible to allow any steps to be taken further because of her shyness, and she was in the midst of the Lord softening her heart. Tim and Abby did their own thing over the years, but in March 2025, history was made. As Tim was preaching at Student Weekend, Abby made a brilliant move and brought him his favorite Redbull to open up a conversation, but soon left for a vacation with her family. Little did she know that some of her dear friends would start spilling the truth to Tim about how Abby felt towards him. During her vacation, she was glued to her phone as she and Tim began texting. When Abby came back, Abby and Tim went on their first date. During that time, Abby's crush turned into falling in love with Tim, as it was seamless and natural to be with him. She was even more surprised that Tim felt the same way. By the end of the week, she knew Tim was the one for her. Abby saw the reflection of all the details of the Lord's promise and guidance in Tim, as his actions and heart reminded her of how the Lord chooses, bestows favor, and leads with grace. As their story unfolded not in grand gestures but in faithful service, Abby knew them serving together was powerful for the Lord. Tim's Version: Abby and Tim’s love story began much like all classic romances do…with the invitation to help rebuild a youth ministry at a local mega-church in San Antonio, Texas. That first Sunday Tim went, he noticed Abby while she led worship, and though he was full of confidence and charisma, he could only sheepishly ask her name and then promptly left the conversation. Love at first sight. For months, Tim would try to woo her with his fashion choices, tattoo stories, knowledge of biblical Greek, and even went so far as to ride his motorcycle to church to garner her attention, all without avail. Unfazed, Tim would try to create organic conversations with Abby post-preaching, including one in which he asked “how is your day going?” to which she replied “the Lord told me not to date anyone for 2 years” (It’s worth noting she dated someone less than 6 months later). However, unbeknownst to Tim, the Lord provided a miracle, second to that of salvation, by turning Abby’s heart towards Tim (Tim’s charm probably helped here too). For 1.5 years, shy glances, shallow conversations, and schoolyard giggling from friends were all that happened romantically. In the Spring of 2025, while leading at a weekend retreat divine blessing took place in the form of Abby bringing Tim his favorite Red Bull, and through further context clues, the notice of Abby being single, at which point Cupid’s arrow’s with the eloquence of Solomon’s song, took place in mutual texting and DM’s on Instagram. Abby saved Tim’s name in her phone as “Trout Daddy” and Abby’s name was saved on Tim’s heart. That next week, they went on their first date, that following week Tim told her he loved her, and that following month Abby met Tim’s family. The rest is truly history. In full sincerity, this relationship has been marked with favor, illuminations of the Lord's faithfulness, and a desire to see His Kingdom advanced, which is what makes this next season so exciting.
