The Atlanta Beltline is a transformative transportation project the encompases the entire city. It is a lovely place to get out and explore and have a few drinks along the way. Start your journey at Krog Street Market for lunch then head north on the trail, stopping at establishments like Lady Bird and New Realm Brewery. Your next major stop will be Ponce City Market, a vast building similar to Chelsea Market in NYC, that has been recently renovated into apartments, commercial office, a large central food hall on the ground floor and a rooftop area with great views of the city. After PCM if you still feel like exploring continue north to Piedmont Park, Atlanta's premiere parkspace located in the Midtown neighborhood.
Piedmont Park is a wonderful park space suited best for sports, picnics and leisurely strolls. It is a great place to spend the afternoon and is large enough to get lost for a few hours. The Atlanta Dogwood Festival will be happening at the park this weekend so it is a great opportunity to see one of Atlanta's many great springtime festivals with a chance to browse local artist goods. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are located on site here as well which are worth a visit. Feeling thirsty? Take a break at Park Tavern or The Nook for a cold beverage.
Feeling touristy? Take a stop by downtown to see the largest aquarium in the United States and see the massive whale sharks, dolphins and beluga whales. Located nearby also includes the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The World of Coca Cola and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Decatur is a lovely city located just a few miles away from the wedding venue. The downtown square is best suited for a nice relaxing day shopping for an Atlanta souvenir or having lunch and drinks at one of the many great restaurants here.
A less conventional thought by many to enjoy but quite an amazing place to visit, Oakland Cemetery is a exceptional collection of mausoleums and graves of some of Atlanta's most influential people. The cemetery is quite impressive and will leave visitors in awe of its splendor.
