How We Met

May 21, 2013

Evan and I met at a party on May 21st of 2013 and we instantly hit it off. We quickly became friends and for almost 3 years, I thought that was all that we were. Over the next few years, Evan and I both dated other people but we always turned to each other for advice. Evan was my best friend and I went to him for EVERYTHING. When I had good news or bad news, I shared it with him. When I was having a bad day and I just needed someone to talk to and cheer me up, he was the one I went to. Whenever I needed a good laugh, I knew he would be able to make me laugh like no one else could. He was always there for me. One night in November of 2015, Evan and I went out with a few of our friends. On this night, he confessed his feelings to me. I always knew he had a “crush” on me, but I didn’t think it was anything serious. The next day, we talked about the conversation we had the night before and I was concerned because I didn’t want to ruin the best friendship that I have ever had. We talked about how close we had become as friends and how much we meant to one another. I couldn’t imagine a day without Evan being in my life. That’s when it hit me, I knew Evan and I were meant to be together. Within a couple of weeks of dating, I knew I was going to marry him one day.

The Proposal

July 25, 2018

On July 25th, Faith and I made our way to Bok Tower Gardens. It may have seemed like a normal date to her but to me, it was the most nerve-racking day of my life. It was the day that I was going to ask Faith to be my wife. I was planning this day for weeks, trying to align it on a day that we both had off from work (which is close to impossible) and also a day that her parents could come down from Ohio, surprise her, and celebrate with us. As we made our way to the gardens, the sky became dark(I forgot to mention that the rain chances were at about 80% for the day) but I couldn’t postpone it because Faith’s parents were already on a flight! We arrived to the gardens and I had no idea where I was going to do it at! I was hoping Faith would fall in love with one spot and then I would do it there and to my luck, she did! We walked by an old mosaic bench in one of the gardens and she could not stop talking about how she loved the bench and the surrounding area. I thought to myself “this is it, you’re about to propose to Faith” and as I was getting over my nerves, it starts POURING down rain. We ran into a near by home on the property that just so happened to be doing guided tours so we decided to go on the tour to wait the rain out. The entire time we were on the tour, I was shaking. I was incredibly nervous because I knew after the tour and the rain, I was going to be popping the question. As the tour ended, the rain was coming to a stop. I told Faith that we should go back up to the bench since the rain interrupted our time there. When we got back to the bench, I had her sit down and I gave her a book that I made, titled “Everything is better with you”. The book told Faith everything that I love about her and how much she means to me. On the very last page, there was a drawing of me, down on my knee, asking Faith to marry me. As she arrived to the page, she looked up and saw me on one knee and that’s when I popped the question. She said yes and the rest is history.
