Question

Should I bring cash?

Answer

Indeed, bring some cash along. 💴 It is highly appreciated to tip your bartenders, butler, and chef when service is appreciated. When we are in a group setting, we plan on tipping our bartender $10-$20 off the bat to eliminate each individual tipping frequently. This is up to each individual and the group you are hanging out with (just a suggestion). There is no required tipping amount but it does go a long way. 😎

Do I need a special charger?🔌

Answer

No, the resort plugs will work exactly the same as they do at home. I did read some reviews that stated their charger would come loose and not charge all the way. Make sure you bring a charger that can charge via usb port and also with an outlet.

Do I need to add international calling? 📱

Answer

This depends on your current plan and cell carrier. If you want to use your phone in Mexico, and do not want to add international calling, I highly recommend downloading the WhatsApp. This is a free app that will let us all communicate free of charge. In addition, you can connect to the resort Wi-Fi. Otherwise, if you don’t already have international calling/texting included, I believe it is $10.00 a day with most cell phone carriers. If traveling out of the country, turn off your phone or place on airplane mode to avoid roaming charges. Contact your wireless provider regarding an international plan if you will be using your phone in non-Wi-Fi areas.

Should I call my bank to let them know I am traveling? 💳

Answer

Yes, alert your bank and credit card companies that you will be traveling and where. This will avoid being locked out of access if they think overseas charges look suspicious and flag them as fraudulent. Take 2 different cards with you and carry them separately, in case one is lost or is not accepted by a shop keeper or restaurant. Check what foreign transaction fees will be. Some cards have very low fees. The easiest and usually least expensive way to get foreign currency is simply to withdraw cash at a bank ATM.

When should we check in for our flight? ✈️

Answer

You may secure your boarding position via the online check-in process starting 24 hours prior to departure using your airline confirmation number. You must check in at the Airline Ticket Counter or Kiosk to have your identification verified, check luggage, and receive your boarding pass. I highly recommend that you download the airline App to keep updated on your flights.

How soon should we arrive to the airport? ✈️

Answer

It is recommended that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to your departure to allow time to check in and clear Security. Please make sure that you are checking your flight status the 24 hours leading up to your trip. If your flight is cancelled, go immediately to the airline ticket agent for assistance or check the online app for alternative flights.

Who should I contact for assistance while in Cancun? ☎️

Answer

If you need assistance in destination call 800-309-4717 - If calling from outside the U.S., use +1 before the phone number. You can also email at travelsupport@vacationexpress.com. Travel Support hours of operation are 8 am ET to 8 pm ET, 7 days a week. For your convenience, a Vacation Express binder is available at your hotel in the hospitality desk area. This binder provides you with destination and local contact information for your representative and local office in case you need assistance during your stay. In most destinations, NexusTours is the Vacation Express representative. Their representatives are available to assist you via telephone 24/7 or in person at your resort throughout your vacation.

When should I request my transfer for my ride back to the airport? 🚕

Answer

Two days prior to departure you need to generate your Nexus pass. Go to the Nexus app, Weblink, or visit the Nexus representative to generate your code.

What are Mexico's Entry Requirements? 🇲🇽

Answer

Travelers need a valid passport to enter Mexico. The traveler's passport must remain valid throughout the traveler's stay in Mexico. The passport must have at least 1 blank page per entry to Mexico. Some airlines may require 6 months validation to board the flight. Foreign nationals visiting the state of Quintana Roo are required to pay a tourism tax (Visitax) of MXN 271.00 (approx USD 16.00) per person. Travelers are required to provide proof of payment. You can pay the tax by going to the following sites: Official Government Website: https://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/ Authorized by Government: https://travelkore.app This tax can only be paid online and recommended to pay prior to travel-wifi and reception at the airport is not great

What are the tipping suggestions? 💵

Answer

When you stay at an all-inclusive resort you expect everything to be included in the price. However, gratuities to the staff is generally not included in your stay. Tourism is the major source of income in the Caribbean. You will find locals working at the resorts, driving tourists to places, or operating excursions. These people rely on the generosity of guests like you to improve their monthly income. If you feel inclined to tip on your vacation, here are a few recommendations: Driver - $10-20 Bellman - $1-$2 per bag Housekeeping - $5 per day. Leave money with a note on the pillow or somewhere they will find it easily. I like to tip every day in case there is a different housekeeper during my stay Butler - $10-20 per day Bar Service - $1-2 per round Breakfast - $5 Lunch - $3-5 Dinner - $10 Room Service - $5 per order Tipping is completely at your discretion.

*Packing Tip* 🧳

Pack a little bit of clothes from each traveler in each suitcase and pack an extra set of clothes in your carry on bag. If one of your suitcases gets lost, you will still have clothes for the trip! DO NOT pack prescriptions in checked baggage. Take in your carry-on, just in case your luggage is lost.

Yes, make copies of your passport. Leave a copy at home with your travel professional, family or friends. Keep a copy in your luggage so it’s the first thing to be seen when opened and email yourself a copy.

Travelers who successfully use the MPC app will no longer have to complete a paper form and may be provided a designated queue. Transfer to Resort ✈️ 🧳

Answer

Pass through passport control, get your bags and proceed through customs. Pass through an area for timeshare and ground transportation solicitors who may try to stop you to provide “assistance”. Please do not stop, continue directly to the EXIT. Immediately outside the terminal building, you will see Vacation Express/NexusTours reps wearing orange shirts and ready to escort you to the transportation to your resort.
