She was supposed to go to a hockey tournament in Ohio. The snow was horrible! Had to cancel. A friend from the team said, "Come up to Harrisville! We'll play some pond hockey against the guys and drink some beers!" Her three favorite things in one weekend. "Score," she thought, "but where the eff is Harrisville?" After driving through a whiteout on Rt. 81 and driving deep into the forest, she arrived to the town that would soon change her life. The party started. Not long after, he showed up. She saw him enter in his Bruins jersey, pointed at him, and immediately walked over to tell him how much she hated it. Their connection was instant. He thought she was a pretentious city girl and she couldn't remember his name. The flirting ensued, high fives were had, and they ended the night by getting married. The next day, they met again at the ice rink. This was where he would get his first taste of her competitive side. She was all business on the ice, tripping him, making body contact, scoring goals. He flirted by commenting on her pony tail. Their connection was solidified when he took a bite of her hamburger without asking. And the rest, is history.
They decided to stay a night at her family's cabin on the river. They were going to have a nice fall night away from technology and pressures of her masters classes at a place that both of them enjoyed. The day was perfect. She came home from work, so she was cranky. He was running around being extra nice, packing the car and making sure the pumpkins we were going to carve were in the car. The weather was cool, but the leaves were changing color and falling. We got to the cabin and began to unpack the car. She brought down the backpacks and the food, while he brought down the pumpkins. We decided to carve the pumpkins before it was dark. He held the pumpkin while she carved the top. She pulled off the top, and there it was. She started crying and said, "You're so stupid." With both of them laughing, he took out the ring, got down on one knee, told her how much he meant to him and how much he loved her. He asked, she said yes.
