It is one of those stories where we met on a dating application. Rex messaged me through the app and asked me, "Do you want shabu?" I scrolled through his Instagram page filled with photos of smiling group pictures of friends and a grinning profile picture of Shaquille O'Neal. I had no idea what this guy looked like, but was sold on shabu and a break from reading graduate school assignments. Surprisingly, Rex arrived on time, worn a nice button up shirt, and pulled out my chair like a gentleman. What struck me most were the conversations. They were interesting, funny, and genuine. I realized I wanted to see Rex again. I wanted to see him everyday. Because everyday, this man still makes me laugh and shows the utmost thought in making me happy.
In the midst of the chaos in this world, we thought it could not be a more perfect time to realize that life is far too precious to waste another year, another day, or another second. We had a series of conversations about our beliefs, our lifetime goals, our dreams throughout the entirety of dating. On July 7, 2020 we got married at the courthouse. On September 22, 2020 we bought our first home. Soon, on July 29, 2022 we will get to celebrate with all of you! We are so grateful for you being a part of our journey.
