Wausau's oldest bar! The Glass Hat has seen 14 decades come and go. The old saloon is rich with stories from bootlegging to bowling clubs. Recently restored in 2008, the bar now resembles its youth from the 1930s.
Several finished themed gardens, a kitchen garden, a potager, a treehouse, a yurt, and a mile of accessible trails. They also offer a variety of programs and events for all ages. There is currently no admission fee, but donations are appreciated.
This billion-year-old hill is one of the oldest geological formations on earth. Rib Mountain State Park is a premier day-use property with picnicking, hiking trails and reservable facilities that include a scenic amphitheater, indoor gathering space and picnic shelters. The top of the park offers spectacular views of the Wausau area and the Wisconsin River. **A vehicle admission pass is required on all motor vehicles stopping in state parks, forests and recreation areas. Admission passes can be purchased online, at individual properties or from DNR service centers.**
Isle of Ferns Park is a natural retreat located on an island in the Wisconsin River. It is known for its lush, fern-filled woods, walking trails, and views of the water. The park is accessible via a pedestrian bridge from the mainland and is a popular spot for activities like walking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing.
