Her Story: we crossed each other’s paths during a service on a Sunday morning. He was heading to the giving table and I was heading to say hello to a friend. We said a small “excuse me” and I promise he gasped yall!! I just knew I had taken his breath away! His Story: I don’t even remember this alleged breathtaking moment she speaks about.. Her story: My son Malachi encountered Greg while leaving the restroom one Monday night after bible study. Greg corrected them regarding a conversation he and a few of his friends were having and this oddly infuriated Malachi. He fussed in the car ride about how he didn't like him and hoped I wasn’t talking to him and on and on and on. Mind you, I knew nothing about Greg at the time so I told Malachi he had nothing to worry about. Fast forward a few weeks, Malachi says, “Mom, I think he’s the one.” Yep! That same Greg who infuriated Malachi had somehow won him over with NO EFFORT. He goes on to say he felt like he had gotten so mad because somehow he knew he was the one. And during his prayer times, the Lord had been leading him to pray for my husband and then eventually, he was being led to pray for Greg. So I did what any human being would do - went into investigation mode to find out who this guy was… using….Facebook (is there any other way to conduct a civilized investigation?? - LOL ) His profile was public and it was all there. And that was that..for a time. His story: We first “met” in Pastor Collins’ office. I was meeting with him and she knocked on the door and I opened it. I thought she was gorgeous. I asked Pastor about her after she left. He said she was in her late thirties. I was interested but I don’t think I gave that away. At least not at that time. Her Story: we were coming off a church-wide fast and when I reunited with social media, I had a friend request from thee Gregory Davis. I smiled big and I accepted fast. LOL. I was so curious to see what was next… His story: I was scrolling through Facebook one day I saw her beautiful profile picture. I gathered the nerve to send her a friend request which she eventually accepted. We began talking and have not stopped talking since. Literally. Some would say we moved rather quickly. I’d say time stood still. Just for us - my Google and I. Our story: This is only the beginning. #BestDavisAhead ❤️
We met in Downtown Lakeland with plans to take a walk, snap some pics and grab something to eat…. Days leading up to this time together, Greg tells me we have plans for a photo shoot for Thursday night and to wear green or black (the wedding colors). Now of course, I didn’t want to make any assumptions but I was almost certain he was going to propose! Thursday comes and he calls me to say something happened with the photographer and the park he wanted to go to closes at a certain time and we would need to reschedule. Of course Im bummed and may have even had a slight attitude because I’m thinking I was going to end this night being someone’s fiancé! He convinces me to still come to Lakeland and we head out for a beautiful walk through downtown Lakeland. (I really did enjoy our walk). We stop at a spot and decided to take pictures. While he is setting up the camera stand, two “strangers” come up and tell us we are a nice looking couple and they want to take pictures of us. I look at Greg and he comes over and clearly thinks it’s a good idea to cooperate. So they are taking pictures of us and eventually we end up back to back. One of the “strangers” tell me to slowly turn and when I do, there he is: my Greg, ring in hand and on one knee beaming that amazing smile that just melts my heart. “Tiauna Sweet, will you do me the honor of marrying me?” are words he manages to force out through unexpected tears. My response: “Absolutely!” We ended the evening taking more pictures as a newly engaged couple and yes - we certainly grabbed that bite to eat!! (Special shout out to the “strangers” Robert and Kendra: Greg’s best man, his wife and my new friends! ❤️)
