On the evening of June 30th, 2023 John and Tianna were at the Tipsy Turtle in Galveston, TX; accompanied by John’s family. They were just about to order food and drinks when there was a sudden change in plans. John's brother David wanted to fly his drone and capture the sunset. Tianna just wanted to eat, but John said let’s go look for seashells. John had been looking for shells every day since they arrived in Galveston so this wasn’t suspicious to Tianna at all. Tianna decided to keep her Crocs on so her feet wouldn’t get dirty since they were going to dinner afterward; John kept his Crocs on too. As they were walking down the beach and the sun was setting, Tianna was busy talking to John’s grandma and taking pictures of everybody and the sunset. John had to call Tianna over to walk with him. Everyone had to tell Grandma Susan to stop distracting Tianna from John. While Tianna walked with John she had found some of the prettiest shells, better than anything John and his brothers had found in the days prior. Tianna picked up 5 seashells and a sand dollar; after each one she picked up, she would turn to show everyone. Little did she know she was interrupting everyone trying to take pictures and videos. Tianna saw a huge 6th shell and jogged towards it, as she picked it up and turned around to show everyone, John had dropped to one knee. Tears in both their eyes John asked Tianna if she would marry him, and without hesitating she said yes.
