Our Story

In typical millenial fashion, we met on Bumble (for the older folks - it’s a mobile dating app). Unlike pre-2015 online dating apps, Bumble required minimal effort. We put in a 10-mile radius, uploaded the photos we thought made us look our best and wrote a blurb we thought would attract matches. Despite living on opposite ends of the city (Silver Spring and Arlington), we matched. Tiana decided to look past Dan’s version of a “most attractive photo” (courtesy of TK and Liz) and swiped right. It took a while to meet up but ultimatley our schedules aligned on World Refugee Day 2017. We met at Larry’s icecream, walked to the Constitution memorial and had Julia’s empanadas. To this day, we’ve never been inside Larry’s icecream, Dan still has a bumble bee icon in Tiana’s phone and we both have our own personal 'favorite photos' (shared here) of eachother that come up when we call one another.
