FAQs and Travel Tips

Question

General Travel Tips

Answer

1. Safety: Morelia is a tourist destination and is considered to be very safe however, regular travel safety rules still apply. Remain vigilant. Avoid being out too late. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. If driving, utilize toll roads as they are safer and avoid driving at night if possible. 2. Cash: Many places in Morelia now take credit/debit card but it is still best practice to carry pesos. You can pull pesos from any Bank or ATM or even exchange USD. Small businesses often lack change so it's always good to keep smaller denominations for payment if possible. Don't forget to notify your bank of intent to travel. 3. Restrooms: When out and about some restrooms require a fee for use because of this, it is good practice to carry loose change as well as a pack of travel tissues and hand sanitizer. 4. Water: Tap water in Mexico is generally considered to not be potable or safe to drink. To avoid health issues during your stay, stick to bottled water or tequila! 5. Weather: It can can be warm or humid during the day, cool in the mornings and evenings and rain is alway a possibility. We may add more tips as we remember them but please reach out if you have questions!

Question

How do I get to the Tijuana Airport?

Answer

The Tijuana Airport can be easily accessed by crossing the border via the Cross Border Express (CBX) in San Diego. Getting to CBX: Parking is available at the CBX for a daily rate. For weekend trips we recommend carpooling with friends or family to split parking cost. Bus rides are also available to and from CBX your local transit stations (ARTIC and SARTC) and are a great option for extended trips. Question

How do I get to my hotel from MLM Airport?

Answer

After landing, there are a number of options including airport shuttle, taxis, and rideshare apps like Uber and Didi. Airport transport options are here: https://themoreliaairport.com/airport-transportation/ You may also be able to arrange transport through your hotel.

Question

What hotels do you recommend in the area?

Answer

For your convenience we've provided a selection of hotels within walking distance to the venue. Please see the "Travel" page for a list of these locations.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

The Historic Center is very walkable. While renting a car is an option, we do not personally recommend driving due to city streets being very congested and having limited parking. This makes taxi's and rideshare apps like Uber or Didi the next best option for getting around. Morelia also has several public transit busses called "combi's." They are typically about 10 pesos per ride. They can be tricky to navigate but this app can help with planning your route. https://uitsi.com/city/morelia/transport/app If you plan to do an excursion to Quiroga, Patzcuaro, or other sites in the area. Renting a car or signing up for a local tour is recommended.

Question

Where can I park at the venue?

Answer

The venue will have valet parking for a fee.

For our wedding, we invite you to join us in formal attire where you can look and feel your absolute best for our special day! For the Tornadorda the next day, please join us in a garden party theme attire.
