Our Story

Florida raised, NYC made, Miami married

It was Halloween 2014 and they were both living in NYC. Thryn loves Halloween! Her favorite holiday as a kid, she yearned for the nostalgia of creative costumes, ghoulish games and troves of candy! But on this night she was disappointingly dressed as a black cat. All she could muster considering she had run downtown from a dance performance in Queens a mere 2 hours before. The music was loud, her friends were scattered and there was not a single candy bar in sight. This night was not looking good... Across the bar stood Julian. Having just moved out of his apartment that very same day he was looking to relax and have fun. He'd worked hard and deserved to enjoy himself. Luckily his landlord had offered him a handful of candy on his way out so his pockets were stuffed with chocolate. He was with a group of friends but noticed a sad, bored looking black cat sitting at the bar. Julian decided he needed a seat, and another drink, so why not take that empty seat next to cat-girl? Thryn looked up as a tall man with kind eyes sat down next to her. He struck up a conversation quickly and amazed her with his patience and gentle energy. But Thryn wasn't in the mood to be picked up, in fact she had made a pact to herself to not give her number out to anyone anymore. Julian and Thryn introduced themselves and Thryn explained how sad she was to not have any candy to celebrate with. As if on cue Julian pulled out a mini kit-kat bar from his pocket and offered it to her! Foregoing the number one rule "don't take candy from strangers" Thryn accepted the chocolate. Julian then asked for her number. Sensing a kindness in this man and genuinely enjoying his company Thryn decided to let HIM give HER his number instead. After putting the digits into her phone he promptly called himself...thereby giving himself her number as well. Sneaky bastard! In any case it was worth it. The cat and the mouse fell in love, moved in together and got engaged 4 years later. That's the story! T&J
