How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Date: November 1, 2017 Location: Operatory 209FF Brandon was gearing up to fix a cavity, Ariel was randomly assigned to be his dental assistant that day. Lucky for Brandon, his patient never showed up. This gave him the unique opportunity to flirt for 30 minutes. Ariel had a big test the next day, so Brandon dismissed her early to go study. Per Brandon's instruction, Ariel snuck out of school early. After an hour or so, Brandon messaged Ariel on Facebook, telling her the faculty were scrambling to track her down. Ariel, already deep in her books and sweatpants, frantically put her scrubs back on and headed out the door back to school. Brandon allowed this joke to sit for a couple minutes before telling Ariel that no one was looking for her, and that she could get back to her studies. After many more Facebook messages and texts (and Ariel constantly reminding Brandon that she was not interested in a boyfriend during dental school), she accepted an invitation to a date. Fast forward 3.5 years-now that they're done with dental school, she is accepting a husband.

How He Proposed

He asked. She fell down (and said "Yes").

October 11, 2019 Dallas, TX Once the idea of getting married started popping up in conversation, Brandon knew it was going to be a challenge surprising this intelligent beauty, Ariel. He needed help. After nervously asking Gus and Laura for their daughter’s hand in marriage, Brandon started planning. He needed an army. This army included the Espinoza Family, the Thorpe Family, Mel (MOH), Laura (MOH), Jackie (Mel’s Mom), and a hidden videographer. Under the premise of taking “family photos” for her mom’s birthday, the army readied the rooftop terrace at Jackie’s home for a surprise proposal. That day Brandon constantly thought, “is she onto me?” Then, as they started to get ready to head downtown for the “photo shoot”, he noticed something. Ariel’s nails were unpainted. He had done it. She had no idea. Natalie, fully aware of the situation, knew Ariel would want her nails “cute” for photos. She brought 4 pairs of stick-on nails, just in case. Every thing was coming into focus. Meanwhile, Brandon was nervously checking to see if the ring box was visible through his pants in his sock. He fiddled with it each time Ariel would turn her back, ensuring it was well hidden from his unsuspecting future fiancée. Fast forward. They arrive downtown. Brandon’s family and Ariel’s family/friends are already there, hiding out of site on the roof. The scene was scattered with roses, photos of the lovely couple, candles, and a light up “Marry Me” sign, setup earlier by Melody, Jackie, and Laura. Brandon and Ariel made their way onto the terrace, he turned, took a deep breath, pulled the ring box from his sock, and got down on one knee. After a well delivered speech, Ariel, overcome with emotion, fell over on the ground. With both parties now down on a knee, Brandon confidently asked, “Ariel Lexus Espinoza, will you marry me?”. With tears streaming down her face, Ariel smiled, nodded, and happily responded with a big YES. https://vimeo.com/411848641?ref=em-share
