Things To Do

In addition to the usual DC recommendations (the National Mall, the museums, the famous pandas) - find some of our favorite spots below. We hope you'll take the time to visit some of them!

Kramers

1517 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

We went to this bookstore/restaurant on our first date and have been back every year on our anniversary. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens

4155 Linnean Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

We got engaged in the gardens of this historic estate. It's beautiful at all times of year!

Eastern Market

225 7th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

We'll be having our reception inside the market itself, but there's a lovely outdoor farmer and artisan market on Saturdays and Sundays! It's one of our regular weekend spots when we're in DC, and we encourage you to visit before our wedding.

Georgetown University

3700 O Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20057

Take a stroll around our alma mater - Jake for undergrad, Maggie for grad school. Hoya Saxa!

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream

3110 Mount Pleasant Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20010

The best ice cream in DC! We would go here almost weekly when we lived in Mt. Pleasant and made a pilgrimage to the flagship location in Maine over the summer.

Present Company Public House

438 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

We frequented this spot when we were living nearby - they have the best veggie burger in town. We also won 2nd place in trivia here (twice) ;)

THE BETSY

514 8th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

This is one of Maggie's favorite spots in Eastern Market - it's a great rooftop bar with unique drinks.

Brooklyn Bagel Bakery

2055 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201

This bagel shop is right up the street from Jake's old apartment and one of his favorite spots. We always bring home a dozen whenever we're in DC. Have a bacon, egg, and cheese and thank Jake later!
