We look forward to celebrating with everyone! We're hoping, given the dynamic situation of COVID, we should be able to have a safe wedding. With that, we highly, highly, recommend CDC vaccine recommendations against COVID, especially given our +350 person celebration.

How We Met

A Michigan hat & A Michigan boy

As organic as chemistry gets, this story is no different. Ryan moved down to Lynchburg, VA in July of 2018. It was a chance encounter with Rebecca's mother (Jolly Thomas) at the farmer's market which started this story. Mrs. Thomas was wearing a UofM hat and "Proud LUCOM parent" shirt, when Ryan approached her explaining he was starting LUCOM in a few weeks, went to Wayne State, and his brother goes to the University of Michigan. Mrs. Thomas, taken a back, explained her daughter was a 3rd year at LUCOM, currently studying for boards, and was in town to help the final weeks of studying. The two parted ways and Mrs. Thomas told Rebecca about this nice boy from Wayne State. Rebecca brushed this off saying there's no chance she'd be seeing him around since she'll mainly be in the hospital. Fast forward to December 2nd at White Hart Café. Rebecca and her friends noticed Ryan and his friend (Claudia) using the same lecture slides from their 1st year of medical school. They went up to Ryan and Claudia and explained that their currently 3rd years, and gave encouragement that medical school gets better. After leaving, Ryan told Claudia he thinks he met Rebecca's mother at the market several months prior, and was going to try for her number. As Ryan walked up to Rebecca, he noticed the Spirit of Detroit sticker on her laptop and knew this was the girl. He said, "this is going to sound crazy, but I met your mother months ago at the market." She said "Yeah! You're the boy from Wayne State... Ryan!" They chatted before parting, and Ryan went back to Claudia saying he "chickened out." She said "That's okay, we have an exam tomorrow anyway." Few days later, Rebecca and Ryan ran into each other again at a school fundraiser called Giftmas! They spent the whole night talking and playing with the kids there. Eventually getting each other's numbers, their first date was the following week at El Jefe. They closed down the place @1am, and Rebecca and Ryan have been inseparable since.
