Upon graduating from college (Cornell and Bucknell or, the other 'nell) we were separately and without knowing how much it would change our lives, shipped out to Wichita, KS to start our first jobs as engineers in a chemical plant. We met on our first day of work, August 4th, 2014, (we staunchly recommend that you date your coworkers) and we started spending a lot of time together, because frankly, we didn't know anyone else. Within a few weeks one of us knew that we were interested in more (it's hard to resist Tom's dimples), and the other one wasn't quite sure (I mean, who dates their coworker after a few weeks!). But with the insistence that we join a wine club together and good old fashioned persistence, we were dating by the end of September. We started realizing that it was hard to get much good food in Kansas (other than Hog Wild Pit BBQ) which sparked a journey of cooking a lot together and running in a half marathon to work it off. After we finally got around to visiting the Strataca salt mines and the space museum with the largest collection of cosmonaut artifacts outside of Russia, we packed our bags and drove down to Houston together. Living in Houston together was quite rewarding as, contrary to Wichita, any cuisine we could possibly want was readily available. We also were lucky enough to be surrounded by a lot of friends while we were there. Unfortunately, Tom also had to move to PA to take a job, so Renee ended up eating most of the food. As hard as it was to live apart, it inspired us to take a trip to Orlando & Harry Potter world when it was cheaper than a visit to Houston. Eventually, we settled in suburbia and started embracing our inner middle-aged Pennsylvanian. We've grown our relationship through yard work, watching the sun loving plants from Houston slowly succumb to the cold of the North and fond Sundays spent making a proper breakfast with good coffee followed by baking.
