If you are familiar with our story you may already know that we had previously been through very painful and challenging marriages which ended in divorce primarily due to the infidelity of our former spouses. We had both turned to many outlets for support in those difficult times, primarily our faith but also support groups both in person and online discussion/support groups. It was in one such online group that we first spoke to each other and became friends never imagining that we would ever find love again. Before we knew it we were talking more and more and our friendship quickly grew into a strong and caring love. However, living 313 miles apart was a challenge that made our relationship different than most. Sustaining a long-distance relationship takes great strength and dedication at any time, but even more so at the height of a pandemic. We felt from the beginning that God brought us together and we put all of our faith in Him that He had a plan for us and for our future together. For more than our first year together, we were in a long-distance relationship but we used the lost art of writing love letters to each other as well as sending each other love songs to help our love grow more and more and to keep our relationship strong over the many miles. Also, having both been through traumatic relationships in the recent past we healed together and inspired one another in our personal faith to allow the Lord to heal the many broken places in our lives. God has been faithful to us and now, before the Lord, our friends, family, and colleagues we will profess our great love and commitment to one another in marriage to spend the rest of our lives together. We feel so blessed and thankful to have been given this second chance at love and for it to be so wonderful and beautiful.
