It all started at an outdoor Halloween concert—pandemic-style—hosted by a mutual friend whose band was playing a full set of Smashing Pumpkins covers. Just as the music was picking up, the skies opened up and it started pouring. Everyone rushed under the only pop-up tent for cover, and that’s where we first started talking. As the night wound down, we discovered—while huddled and ordering Ubers—that we actually lived just a few houses apart. We shared the ride home but, in the chaos of escaping the rain, completely forgot to exchange numbers. For some reason, despite living so close, we didn’t run into each other again for months. Eventually, Tom got creative: he decided to paint the side of his house, not out of any urgent need for home improvement, but as an excuse to hang outside for hours in hopes of spotting Caitlin walking her dog, Nacho. And it worked! We reconnected, set up a first date, and… well, the rest is history.
