We’re so excited that our wedding falls on the first weekend of Fiesta San Antonio - one of the city’s most beloved and lively annual traditions! What is Fiesta San Antonio?! Fiesta San Antonio began in 1891 as a single parade - the “Battle of Flowers” - created to honor the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Organized by local women, the first celebration featured flower-decorated carriages, bicycles, and horses parading in front of the Alamo. Over the years, Fiesta has grown into San Antonio’s signature celebration, reflecting the city’s rich multicultural heritage. Today, Fiesta is a ten-day festival each April, featuring more than 100 events: parades, festivals, concerts, and cultural gatherings that fill the city with music, color, parties, and excitement. Millions of visitors join in each year, raising funds for local non-profits and celebrating the vibrant spirit of San Antonio. What this means for you?! If you’re traveling from out of town, you’re in for a treat! Fiesta is when San Antonio truly comes alive. The city’s top attractions will be buzzing with activity, giving you a wonderful chance to explore everything San Antonio has to offer at its most festive. Do keep in mind that Fiesta is a popular time for visitors, so the city will be bustling and some areas may have extra crowds. We recommend booking accommodations and making travel plans EARLY!
