FAQs

Question

I've never been to a Catholic wedding before. Is there anything I should know?

Answer

There are many things about Catholic weddings that make them unique. However, even if you have been to a Catholic Mass before, there may be aspects of our nuptial ceremony and the mass that is to be celebrated after that may be different than anything you have ever experienced before. Our ceremony will involve many beautiful and awe-inspiring ancient traditions including the use of incense, ancient chants, and liturgical ceremonies, many of which are over 1,000 years old. Due to the sacred nature of this rite, we kindly ask that all of our guests wear modest formal clothing. If any women are wearing dresses with exposed backs or shoulders, please wear a shawl or jacket while inside of the sanctuary. If you are hesitant or nervous about anything, we encourage you to simply take in the beauty, be present, and support us through your thoughts and prayers. That would be the best gift you could ever give us! We only ask that you refrain from receiving Holy Communion during the end of Mass if you are not currently a practicing Catholic.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We want to celebrate our wedding with all those who are closest to us. Your invitation will specify whether or not you are eligible to bring a date.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is: Elevated Cocktail/Formal Attire. For men, please wear a suit or dress shirt at minimum. Ladies, please wear a floor length or midi dress, or elevated cocktail dress. Even though Arizona is known for being hot, it may get chilly during the evening, so please come prepared. Due to the sacred nature of the sanctuary space, we require that everyone wear modest formal wear whenever inside the church. If you are wearing a dress with an open back or exposed shoulders during the ceremony, please wear a shawl or jacket to cover.
