If you're looking for an easier hike, the Star Trail is a good option. It's a 3 mile out and back hike that will land you with a view of the entire valley. If hiking isn't your thing, you can drive to the top for the same view. Highly recommend checking this out one way or the other while you're in Roanoke!
Take a walk or bike along the Roanoke River. There are many access points to the greenway throughout Roanoke. Our favorite places to access the Greenway are by The Green Goat restaurant or at River’s Edge Park. We would highly recommend getting outside for a stroll while you're here!
If you're looking for a moderate to strenuous hike, then we would suggest McAfee's Knob! It's the most photographed spot on the Appalachian Trail with gorgeous views. If you decide to do this though, plan for at least half a day as the trail is about 8 miles round trip!
Short but strenuous hike with gorgeous views of the Roanoke Valley at the top. Expect some rock climbing towards the end!
By far our FAVORITE breakfast spot. We love spending Sunday mornings here after a long weekend of hockey. Dan's favorites are their chocolate croissants and the chorizo cocote. Deanna's favorites are their almond croissants and the avocado toast.
Deanna’s favorite beer in the Roanoke Valley!
Great burgers, beer and atmosphere. Our favorite spot to go to get a bite after Dan’s hockey games.
If you’re craving something sweet while you’re here, Blue Cow Ice Cream is the best place around!
