How We Met

I first met Rekhail while I was an intern at Second Baptist Church. We arrived at the campus where he was working and I noticed how cute he was, but didnt pay too much attention to him. If you know Khail, you know he can be a little extra and dramatic. I didn’t see him again until weeks later during Vacation Bible School. When he saw me, he walked towards me and the first thing he ever said was “Cool shirt bruh”. Thinking that was weird, I again did not give him much thought. After the summer was over, I left Houston and went back to Oklahoma. As the summer was wrapping up, I recieved a text from Khail asking if I was still in Houston. One conversation led to another and after three months of talking on the phone and texting, we decided to meet in Dallas, Texas for our first date. That first date led to many more and now we’re getting married!

The Proposal

I remember how warm it was the entire week, and how the weather was going to be perfect. The day I decided to propose, of course a cold front comes. I remember going through the plan and having the plan even typed out just gave me that extra blanket of comfort for it to be perfect. Heading to Oklahoma, I remember being nervous and anxious to just get the question out. I actually had everything set and ready to go three hours before I was even suppose to ask her the question. The wait was the worst part of it. Waiting and imaging all the worst things like what if the ring doesn't fit or what if she doesn't like it or the craziest thought, what if she says no?! I think I kept praying and asking for the day to speed by because I couldn't wait to debunk my crazy thoughts and be engaged to the most amazing woman I have ever met. When her sisters brought her to the school where I was, I knew everything was going to be alright. As we walked towards the tent, I remember thinking to myself "don't fall". I got down on one knee and before I could even get the words out she said yes!
