We’re getting married!

We first met during our studies in Amsterdam. We went to the same school, but spent most of our time in different buildings. One day, Thijs decided to study in the building where Maria usually spent her days, drawn by its calm and inspiring atmosphere. At that moment, Maria was focused on a project with her group. By coincidence, someone in her group knew Thijs, and he came over to say hello. That’s when it happened: Thijs started talking to Maria, and from that very first moment, he knew there was something special about her. From that day on, their paths began to cross more often. What started as a simple conversation in a quiet corner slowly grew into a connection neither of them had expected, one that would quietly become something truly meaningful.

On August 14th, 2025, we celebrated our one-year anniversary, a day that became unforgettable. Thijs had planned something special, which made Maria suspicious since he never plans anything. They sailed through the canals of Amsterdam on a beautifully decorated boat covered in flowers and hearts, glowing in the warm sunset light. As they passed the Love Bridge, Maria thought this might be the moment, but Thijs waited a little longer. Then he asked her to stand up and began a heartfelt speech about his love for her and the joy of their first year together. With the water shimmering around them, Thijs got down on one knee. Maria was in tears and for a moment forgot to say yes, but then she whispered yes through happy tears and they embraced. After picking up the photographer for a few beautiful photos, they continued to Hotel L’Europe in Amsterdam to celebrate with family and friends, marking the perfect start to a new chapter in their story.
