Travel Tips

Cultural Considerations: The Philippines has so much to offer so dive yourself into the culture by enjoying the food, meeting the Filipinos and respecting our lands and seas. Other things to consider: - 10-20% tips are welcome when dining or when on tour. - Add some leeway when traveling as there will most likely be traffic when getting to places. Language: The Philippines is home to 186 languages but 92% of Filipinos speak english though knowing a few words in Tagalog will come a long way. Philippine Entry Requirements: Required by the Ph government, fill up this form 2-3 days before landing in the Philippines: https://etravel.gov.ph/ Weather Awareness: It's always hot in the Philippines (30° / 24°), but bring a light jacket for the breeze. There's a slight chance of rain so having an umbrella is always useful. Health and Safety: Protect yourselves! Best to keep your vaccinations up to date before taking off. Remember to also pack sunscreen, bug spray and your medications. We have 2 main pharmacies called "Mercury Drug Store" and "Watsons". You'll also find small local stores that'll sell the basics (ie. paracetamol, antihistamine, etc.) Peso? Euro? Bitcoin? While more and more establishments are accepting cards, cash is the more reliable option especially when travelling in the Philippines. Withdraw a few and have them exchanged when you land! Grab? Uber? Trike? While taxis and trikes will be available around the area, we highly recommend everyone to download "Grab" to help you get around. Be sure to add in your card or if you prefer cash, that's fine too. If you REALLY want to go local, try taking a jeepney while you're here. Sim or Wifi: Most places have wifi but you'll most likely have to get a sim card when you land. Look for "Globe" or "Smart" which should cost around 50-60 PHP (1 EUR). You can buy load afterwards and subscribe to a plan. All foreigners are required to register their sim cards. https://www.globe.com.ph/register-sim-card#gref
