How we got here...

In early 2019 Brandon and Monica "matched" on a dating app, even though Monica swore she would never use one of those things. After chatting with Brandon via text for a few days, she was pleasantly surprised when Brandon interrupted her workout one Saturday--they hadn't yet realized they both went to the same gym. A few days later, Brandon asked Monica on a brunch date. She was about to leave for a week long work trip and declined his offer saying that she had too much to do before she left. Looking back, maybe she was just playing hard to get :-p. Brandon claims that after he was turned down, he was "going to move on." But, when Monica returned, the couple kept talking and eventually had their first official date in February 2019. They dated "unofficially" for about two months until Brandon started to get cold feet. He told Monica that he wasn't sure if he was ready to be in a relationship and ended things. Monica was bummed, but also said she wasn't going to wait around for him to be ready. Over the next few months, Brandon and Monica kept in touch. Towards the fall, Monica realized that calls and texts from Brandon were starting to increase in frequency... she knew what was coming. Brandon eventually asked if Monica would be willing to give things another try. She said, "No." and continued to when Brandon asked her to reconsider several times. On September 24, 2019, Monica was at work when she got a message from Brandon. It said, "I hope my letter proved that I'm not going to give up on us." Slightly confused, Monica replied, "I'm sorry, but what letter?" (She was famous for not checking her mail...) After making up an excuse to leave work early, she rushed home--she had to read this letter! The letter explained where Brandon's head and heart had been over the last few months and Monica decided he was definitely worth a second chance. It was the best decision Monica has ever made ...and that was the best letter Brandon has ever written!
