Back in November of 2016, Becca and her college roommate, Christine, were on a group tinder date at a local bar with two guys from St. Norbert College. Joe, who was a stranger to Becca at that time, knew the guys Becca and Christine were on a date with and stopped to say hello to them. Joe was wearing a Germantown High School sweatshirt. Christine immediately eyed it up and said: “Becca, didn't you grow up close to Germantown?!” We shared a few comments and some laughs about our hometowns being so close and then Joe left the bar and we went on with our evening. Fast forward to February 11th, 2017. Becca and Christine were out for another night on the town. This time they decided on a college town favorite: Long Branch Saloon. They walked in and immediately saw "Joe from Germantown" sitting at the bar! Becca was nervous since months had passed and was not sure if Joe would remember the conversation from that November night. Christine pushed Becca and said, "go say hello!" Joe was surrounded by his friends as Becca approached his bar stool and said “You’re Joe right?” Joe grinned and said, “Depends on who you ask.” We immediately hit it off and talked for the rest of the night. The next morning, Becca woke up to a text that said “We should get some coffee or something this week, really get to know each other instead of just talking at the bar” and the rest is history ❤️
We decided to have a date day after Joe had been traveling for business that week. Plans consisted of ice skating, dinner, and then the bar for some drinks to celebrate Becca's sister's 23rd birthday! Earlier in the day to kill some time, we decided to visit the Harley-Davidson museum since Becca had never been! Little did she know, Joe was anxiously awaiting the evening. We went to Red Arrow Park and went ice skating for about an hour before heading back to the car to drop off Becca's skates before walking to dinner. After coming out of the parking structure, a horse and carriage awaited us. Becca has wanted to do this forever and couldn't believe Joe had set this up to take us to dinner! Needless to say, she was excited! We got in the carriage and a couple of minutes into the ride, Joe got down on one knee. Tears were shed OF COURSE and they were followed by a very happy yes. Our carriage ride stopped at the Wisconsin Club and Joe said our dinner reservation was inside. We walked downstairs to be seated and when Becca turned the corner all of our immediate family and some friends were waiting to congratulate us! More tears were shed! It was a magical night we will never forget.
