Love Story

written by Rebekah

I first officially met Travis when he came from working the road and into the warrants division, where I had been working for a couple years. When I was introduced to him, he didn’t have much to say and quite frankly, neither did I. Travis stayed in the back of the office and never had much to say other than the occasional smart ass comment. We never spoke to each other unless we absolutely had to. I was convinced that Travis thought I was absolutely annoying because I was yappy. One day, we started to talk about work, as Travis was thinking about putting in for Sergeant. He was asking for “advice” on what was needed in the office and before we knew it, we started to see that we had a lot in common. We started to talk about life, and relationships and I vividly remember that I had asked him if he thought he would ever find his soulmate, to which he told me he had not only given up on finding his soulmate, he had given up completely on finding love. I felt bad for him and could tell from his demeanor at work he had given up, but I tried to encourage him and tell him that the soulmate would reach him one day, he just had to be patient. He (of course) scoffed at that, as he was certain it would never happen. I then in turn told him I absolutely knew without a shadow of doubt my soulmate was out there somewhere and I would never give up finding him. I remember Travis just saying “whelp, good luck with that!” Fast forward a couple days, I was still thinking about Travis and all the conversations we had and decided to pretend to start typing something on Snapchat. After he got the “Rebekah is typing” notification, I didn’t send anything, waiting to see if he would say something in return. I remember thinking that if it wasn’t meant to be, it wouldn’t happen. Sure enough, that next day, Travis texted me back and we have since then been sharing laughter, tears, and most importantly, have been making new memories together. Since being with Travis, my life has been filled with little things I was missing. He has turned the mundane chores into shared adventures and I enjoy every moment spent with him. This marriage was written in the stars by all of our loved ones looking down and smiling at us. We are surely meant to be.

The Proposal

written by Travis

Once Rebekah and I started to speak more seriously, Rebekah let me know was that she was looking for marriage in a relationship. That was something I thought about every day after she told me that. I thought about whether or not I was actually the right guy for her. She deserves the best and the more time we spent talking and discussing the future, the more I knew that I wanted to be a part of it and wanted to be her husband. One Friday morning, I woke up and could not stop thinking about the fact that I wanted to marry her. We went out that evening for supper and a few drinks and went home. We were folding laundry together and once it was all folded and put away, Rebekah asked me to crack her back and proceeded to lay down on the bed so that I would crack it. When she turned to look at me, I was on one knee by the bed and I asked her to marry me. At first she asked me if I was being serious or just joking around, and when I said I was being serious and wanted her to be my wife, she responded with a huge smile and SAID YES!
