We knew of each other in high school but it was faithful Bumble that brought us together many, many years later. He swiped. I swiped. We matched. On bumble the girl has to message first so my opening line was “Hey stranger!”. He gave me his number. We talked for 5 weeks before our first date on 10.14 despite living only 2 miles away from each other. We went to Tap and Barrel for drinks and the connection was instant and even better than what we already developed through weeks of talking. He walked me to my car and kissed me. The rest, as they say, is history.
We went up to Marquette for the Fourth of July. One of our favorite things to do there is watch the sunset at Blackrocks in Presque Isle Park. So it was not surprising that after having drinks at Blackrocks Brewery that we headed to watch the sunset. Robert said he brought his drone so he could get some cool shots. We found our boulders that we usually sit on and just enjoyed the view. I asked Robert when he was going to get the drone out since the sun was almost set. He said soon, let’s just enjoy the moment. Finally after the sun was down and we were just enjoying the beautiful sky, he said he was going to get his drone. He went behind me to get it out of his backpack. Next thing I knew he was on his knee in front of me with a little box in hand. With his eyes welling up he said he had a whole speech prepared but he just wanted to get to the important part and asked me to marry him. I never been happier than in that moment and with the biggest smile on my face said YES! Of course on the way to tell his whole family that we’re waiting for us at the cabin, I was overcome with joy and balled my eyes out. I finally get to marry the love of my life and the best man in the entire world.
