Alyssa and Marcus’s early story involves back and forth text-tag, wondering who would make plans, and if they would show up. Having met through friends, events were generally a group format, however things would change on New Years Eve 2017. Leading up to New Years Eve, Marcus had been on the fence about his plans. Meanwhile, Alyssa had decided on an event downtown. Marcus reached out to Alyssa, unexpectedly, to ask what her plans were. In an unforeseen turn of events, Marcus chose to join Alyssa for New Years. With the last kiss of 2016 and the first kiss of 2017, Alyssa and Marcus would begin their relationship.

Marcus knew Alyssa would be able to see it coming from a mile away, she was too smart. What she didn’t realize was that Marcus had already prepared for this moment and was waiting for the perfect time. That opportunity would come in the form of a prestigious vacation provided by Marcus’s employer. Alyssa would never expect it. They arrived in Cancun and began their journey to the resort in Riviera Maya. Once they checked in, Marcus told Alyssa they had been invited to a very special event that was secret – only a few people would be there, and they needed to hurry. Much to Marcus’s “surprise” they arrived to an empty cabana next to the beach. This was Marcus’s chance and he dropped down to one knee to make his proposal. Alyssa blessed him with what he was hoping to hear, “Yes.”
