We love to travel and wander the world together. Since dating, we have explored 9 different countries and many places across the States. Every time we get out there into the world, we learn more about ourselves, each other, God, and the beautiful places and people we share this planet with. Breaking out of our comfort zones and trying new experiences means we never stop learning and growing together. Staying true to our love, we want to kickstart our marriage by sharing our joy of travel with the people who mean the most to us. Spain has amazing food, lively culture, beautiful art, and is very affordable. It felt like the perfect place to get married and celebrate with our favorite people. We love Sitges, and we hope you will too. We can't wait to celebrate with you.
Our wedding celebration in Spain will not include any children. We love all of our nieces, nephews, and little cousins, however, we want this to feel like a true vacation for everyone, and we are sure you could use a little break ;) We understand that many of our guests will want to take this opportunity to do a family vacation; we just ask that if you chose to, please make childcare accommodations. Children will be welcome to the Cookout on Sunday.
We will notate the invitees on our formal invitations. While we wish we could celebrate with everyone in our lives, our destination celebration will be very intimate. We thank you in advance for understanding and respecting our decision.
We have secured discounted rates with two hotels, listed on the travel page. You are welcome to stay anywhere you wish! We only advise against staying in Barcelona for our wedding weekend; the train is not 24/7, and can be unreliable--commuting back and forth will take hours. Save Barcelona for before or after our wedding weekend; there is so much to do and see there and deserves its own time.
This is entirely up to you! We expect people to make a full vacation out of this so feel free to explore other parts of Europe before or after our wedding weekend. If flying directly into Spain from the US, we recommend arriving to Sitges by Thursday September 24th at the latest (unless you are in the wedding party).
Creative Formal has the elegance of formal attire, but encourages personal flair, artistic expression, or unexpected style elements. We want y'all to look your best! Have fun with it. Couture silhouettes and statement jewelry? Yes! Bold colors, patterns, unique textures are welcome. Here are the general guidelines of creative formal: - dresses should be floor length - elevated fabrics (silk, satin, chiffon, velvet, crepe, structured suiting) - heels, dress shoes, or elevated footwear (bring a comfy backup!) If you'd wear it to a fancy gala, you're doing it right. If you'd wear it to brunch, save it for the Welcome Party xo "You can never be overdressed or overeducated" - Oscar Wilde
Yes! Shuttle pick up is 5:15pm at MiM Sitges Hotel. The bus will drop off at the same pick up location at 11:45pm and 2:30am.
Sitges in September is perfect. Fun Fact: Sitges has its own microclimate due to its location by the Garraf mountains and the Mediterranean Sea which makes it warmer and sunnier than the rest of Spain. Expect low humidity with highs up to 77F and lows down to 62F. The beaches and pools will still be enjoyable, so pack your swimsuits!
Not in our opinion! It is much more affordable than any major city in the US. A *nice* meal for two with drinks could cost between 40-80 euros, but usually you can eat and drink for much less. You can go to the market and get fresh cheese, Iberian ham, and a bottle of wine for less than $10. In our opinion, its one of the most affordable cities we have traveled to in Europe!
Sitges is very safe, alone or in a group. It is also LGBTQIA+ friendly-- the friendliest in the entire country! But as always, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Pick pocketing is common in Europe so take the proper precautions. Currently, there are no travel restrictions to Spain.
While it is not 100% necessary, we strongly recommend learning some key phrases such as how to order food, ask for the check, and directional help. It will be helpful when you encounter the occasional local who does not know English. We recommend downloading Google Translate and download the dictionary so you can use offline if you find yourself in a bind with language.
Arrange a taxi using a taxi app such as Uber or Free Now (that you downloaded before leaving the U.S.).
No, but we highly advise. It will give you an ease of mind if anything goes "wrong".
Yes and No. We always travel with foreign currency because you never know what could happen and if you may need to pay cash. However, nearly everywhere accepts cards or has tap-to-pay. We do recommend getting a card with no foreign transaction fees…those add up!
If you don’t have one YES! If yours is expiring within 6 months of your travel dates, TIME TO RENEW! Many countries will not allow you travel if your passport expires within 6 months of the travel dates. We recommend renewing/applying at least 4 months out for safe measure.
More information will be shared with our formal invitations, and we will update the website with further details at that time. We can’t wait for this day and to celebrate with you!
