FAQs

The Wedding Website of Denisha Hughes and Brandon Greene
We understand that a destination wedding can be a big undertaking. To continue the vacation celebration vibe, we want this to be as easy as possible for you. If you have a question that is not answered below, please contact us directly and we'd be happy to help.
Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

The U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix) are U.S. territories - you do not need a passport to travel to St. Thomas. And you don't need a currency exchange, USD works great!

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Cyril E. King Airport (STT)

Question

When should we book?

Answer

For lodging, ASAP! The island fills up quickly, so to make sure you have the best options and price ranges, book your lodging now! See the Lodging and Travel page for Airbnb/Vrbo links (most common), as well as a hotel option. For air travel, we noticed the best prices are available 3-7 months out. Recommend you starting booking your flight for January 2025 around July 2024.

Question

I wasn't able to, or don't want to, book a room at Sapphire Resort. Where should I stay?

Answer

You are welcome to stay wherever you'd like! If you want to be closer to Sapphire Beach where most guests will be staying, check out Two Sandals Bed and Breakfast or Point Pleasant Resort. Cowpet Bay (both East & West) are also nearby and close to the Ritz Carlton. Transportation will be provided for wedding guests to and from Sapphire Beach Resort (ceremony) and Villa Botanica (reception) on January 25, 2025. If you choose to stay elsewhere, you are welcome to get a taxi from your hotel to Sapphire Beach Resort.

Question

How long do we have to stay?

Answer

This is up to you! Most guests will be arriving on Thursday, January 23rd and leaving on Sunday, January 26th. The wedding will be on Saturday, January 25th with a welcome party the night before. You can stay for 2 nights or 10. This is YOUR vacation too!

Question

What’s the schedule?

Answer

Other than the wedding ceremony & reception on January 25, 2025, we will have a sunset welcome boat party on Friday, January 24, 2025. Otherwise, this is your vacation and you are free to do whatever activities you'd like. We don't want to take over how you like to vacation. Restaurant and activity recommendations will be updated soon.

Question

Should we rent a car?

Answer

This is up to you! There are plenty of taxis on the island, or you can rent a jeep/other vehicle from one of the local rental businesses. I have seen many horror stories booking through the airport, so I would avoid that if possible. It all depends how comfortable you are driving on the left side and through winding mountain roads!

Question

How do we get to the venue?

Answer

There will be 1-2 shuttle pickup locations the day of the wedding, depending on where everyone decides to stay. Shuttles will bring guests to and from the venue before and after the wedding ceremony (Sapphire Beach) and reception (Villa Botanica).

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Wedding attire is All White. Other than that, it's up to you! The weather is hot, we recommend sunscreen! Reef Safe Sunscreen is not only recommended, it is actually required by law in the USVI to help keep our oceans safe! Sunscreens containing the three Os — oxybenzone, octocrylene and octinoxate – harm our coral reefs and are banned in the territory. Beware, some sunscreens are advertised as "Reef Safe" that actually are not, so look for those ingredients!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Tropical, 80 degrees, and sunny hopefully! There may be some island rain.

Question

Are kids allowed?

Answer

Of course! Please be sure to email us at theworldisgreene@gmail.com with the name(s) of your plus one and/or kids no later than December 1st, 2024 so that we can update our guest count. Thanks!

Question

Whom should I call with questions?

Answer

Give Brandon & Shay a call, or email us at theworldisgreene@gmail.com
