Let's start from the beginning... Fall of 2016, Jacob ended up in my mom's Communications class at Olivet. We met one night when I was bringing treats for her class. That's all it was... or so we thought! Spring of 2017, Jacob and I were asked to travel in a ministry team for Olivet. We both accepted, but I knew this would be short lived since I was graduating in a few months and moving to Indianapolis. After a summer of getting to know each other, we both knew... July 23, 2017, Jacob and I were saying goodbye as I would head back to Indianapolis again. That's when he popped the first question... "Will you be my girlfriend?" For the next two and a half years, we would experience an atypical dating relationship, spending hours in a car/bus/train traveling back and forth between Bourbonnais and Indianapolis to see one another. We spent many hours on Facetime, late nights calling, and enjoying time with both of our families. We both knew we wanted this relationship to continue long term.
November 23, 2019, Jacob spent the weekend in Indianapolis to visit me. Little did I know, this would be a very important weekend. Jacob prepared a date night in the city. We got dressed up, ate dinner at a fancy restaurant, and walked around the monument circle enjoying the Christmas lights. Jacob suggested walking by the American Legion Mall to see the different monuments and memorials. It was freezing cold! However, Jacob had a plan... After a few minutes, he got down on one knee and that's when he popped the BEST question! He proposed! "YES!" After many happy tears, Jacob realized a problem... He had asked my friend Rachel to take pictures of us, but she was not in the same place as us. Quick on his feet, he took the ring and put it back in the box. We walked to where we thought she was, and he proposed AGAIN! Of course, "YES!" We are so happy to start this next part of our journey together as an engaged couple. We are looking forward to sharing our next special day with all of you!
