It began in an operating room on an ordinary day made extraordinary by a conversation. Steve was talking about his love for good food, traveling, and wine. One of Alisha’s closest friends, who happened to be working beside him that day, listened closely. It was impossible not to notice: everything he was describing sounded just like Alisha. She showed him a photo of her. His curiosity piqued, and with a knowing smile said, “She’s exactly my type.” Later, she told Alisha about him, saying, “If you two ever meet, you’ll fall in love.” As fate would have it, they did. At a natural wine festival in San Diego of all places, he recognized her instantly. What followed was a conversation that never really ended.
