The couple met in 2018 through social media after Haley saw a photo of Thomas with his car, which happened to be her dream car, and she had to ask him about it. She sent him a message and they quickly hit it off! They never met up due to busy schedules and living an hour away from each other, but they stayed friends on social media and passed each other at car meets. After a couple years went by of being social media friends, Thomas asked Haley in March of 2020 if she would like to officially meet and if he could cook her dinner, to which she agreed. They continued to get to know each other and realized they had very similar interests and a great connection. In the fall of 2020, Thomas asked Haley to be his girlfriend and their relationship quickly took off. Haley and Thomas have always prided themselves on having a strong friendship prior to their relationship, and they feel this helped them build their love into what it is today.

On a cold, Virgnia winter night in January of 2022, Haley and Thomas went to their local Chili's for fajitas and warmth. They had spent the evening running errands and it had just began to sleet which elicited groans and frustration from both of them. They both hated driving in the snow, and felt they missed out on so many outdoor activities when winter came around. Earlier that week, Haley & Thomas had started to look at townhomes for sale because they were eager to start a new chapter together. As they sat in the booth, Thomas looked up from his Realtor.com app as Haley was scrolling Zillow, and he proclaimed, "What about Florida?", to which Haley replied, "I'm in!". Just like that, a crazy idea became a little more realistic. Thomas did his research on hurricane insurance, ideal locations in Florida, average home cost, and he quickly settled on Orlando. Haley grew up visiting Florida in high school often with friends who had families there, so she was on board. They took a few research trips to Orlando and immediately fell in love with the warmth the city offered. Plus, they had a great car scene which was important for Thomas' career. After a few months of house touring with their realtor over FaceTime, virtual walk throughs and countless negotiations, they found the perfect house and moved at the end of July 2022.

South Carolina has been a central part of Thomas' life growing up, as he would visit Beaufort and Savannah every summer and spend weeks at his Grandma Emmy's house. Growing up, Thomas learned how to catch crabs off the dock, steam oysters and sail boats in the river. Skufful Farm has been a prominent part of Thomas' life and Haley has since fallen in love with the area as well. Every Thanksgiving, Skufful Farm hosts a potluck event in Darlington where families gather to celebrate. Thomas' father, Billy, has family throughout South Carolina and Georgia, and they go hunting at the family fields in Darlington throughout the year. The Lowcountry has always felt like a second home for Thomas and he has many fond memories associated with South Carolina. Haley and Thomas visit often with Koda and look forward to unifying their marriage in the presence of their familes in this beautiful state.
