Kansas City International Airport (MCI)

For guests who are flying in, the closest major airport is Kansas City International Airport (MCI). The wedding venue, The Fields at 1890, is a quick 10-minute drive northwest from the airport terminals. Because it is so close, renting a car or catching a rideshare (Uber or Lyft) directly from the airport to local hotels is very easy.

$$ Distance to Venue: ~12 minutes The Vibe: Fun, scenic, and outdoorsy! This is a 73-acre lakeside resort right in Platte City that offers country hotel suites, cozy cabins, and RV spots. It's a great option if you want to stay close to the venue, hang out by the water, or book a larger cabin setup with a group of friends or family! When booking, let them know you are there for the "Wigton wedding." They will keep track on their spreadsheet, and if we have 10 or more you'll all receive a 10% discount! :)

Orangewood Inn & Suites Kansas City Airport

$$ Distance to Venue: ~12 minutes (and less than 5 minutes from the MCI airport!) The Vibe: Classic, reliable, and convenient. This newly renovated hotel features free hot buffet breakfast, an indoor pool/hot tub, free Wi-Fi, and a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle. It is a perfect, stress-free spot for out-of-town guests who are flying in for the weekend!

Vacation Rentals (Airbnb & VRBO)

If you prefer booking an Airbnb or VRBO, you will find plenty of great options nearby! When searching for rentals, we recommend looking in these two areas to keep your commute easy: - Platte City/Weston: This will keep you closest to the venue (under 10-15 minutes). It is a charming, historic area perfect for a quiet, scenic stay. _ North Kansas City/Zona Rosa Area: If you want to be closer to shopping, coffee spots, and restaurants, search for rentals near the Zona Rosa Outdoor Shopping District. It is a highly accessible area right off the highway and only about a 15-minute drive south of the venue. Due to the peak summer time, we highly recommend booking your rental houses a few months in advance!

Driving Logistics

If You Are Driving: There is ample, free paved parking directly in front of The Fields Event Space. Cars are safe to park on the estate grounds during the event. If You Are Using Rideshares: Because we are right down the street from the Kansas City International Airport, getting an Uber or Lyft to the venue from your hotel or the airport is very easy and quick. Warning: Because Platte City is a quieter area, on-demand Ubers and Lyfts can be tough to find late at night when the bonfire wraps up at 9 PM. If you plan to take a rideshare home, we highly recommend using the "Uber Reserve" feature inside your app to schedule your pickup ride 24-48 hours in advance!
