How We Met

October 31, 2013

Drew and Elizabeth met on Halloween 2013 when her girlfriends invited some mutual guy friends (Drew’s roommates) over for a costume party. Over the course of the following several months, Elizabeth and Drew continued their friendship on their own. It wasn’t until the following April 2014 that the two began to get more serious by surprising each other with Chipotle dinners, watching Drew’s hockey games, and starting their own ritual of Sunday morning beach breakfasts. Almost a full year later, in February 2015, Drew finally made it official – after the final goal of a Boston Bruins (his team) vs. New Jersey Devils (her team) hockey game.

The Proposal

June 8, 2019

Drew and Elizabeth take their date nights very seriously, so when Drew suggested they have a date night on Saturday, Elizabeth didn’t think anything of it. Drew told her that he had already picked a place because “she can be indecisive” – which she absolutely agrees with. Saturday, June 8th started off as any other weekend morning for the pair: they woke up, went on a run on the Canal Trail behind their apartment, and made themselves brunch. Later in the day, while out shopping, Drew made an appointment to get his hair cut, and he suggested that Elizabeth stop by the nail salon next door and get her nails done so she wouldn’t have to wait in the car. That evening, Drew surprised Elizabeth by taking her to one of their favorite local places: The Riverview Bistro in Stratford, overlooking the water. They enjoyed a nice dinner, and they walked out of the restaurant and down by the water so Drew could “take some pictures of the boats”. As Elizabeth describes it, Drew took their leftovers out of her hands and threw them on the ground before taking her hand and leading her to a gazebo where he got down on one knee. Drew says as soon as he got down on one knee, Elizabeth covered her face and said, “Oh my God, Oh my God” over and over again while he was trying to propose. Elizabeth, still totally surprised, spotted one of their closest friends, Joseph, taking pictures of them, and she knew this was the real deal. Unbeknownst to them, there was a full deck of restaurant-goers who witnessed the entire proposal and cheered for them after she said “yes”.
