One enchanted mid-summer's evening in June of 2018 Andrea decided she was tired of conventional dating and decided to download the online dating app OKCupid. Though she did not know it at the time, Ben had also downloaded that very same app and had a profile prime for swiping right. As it happened, late that same June, Ben did come across Andrea's profile and he did swipe right. Not long after, Andrea-- intrigued by Ben's devilish good looks and desire to actually go on a physical date; as opposed to having a text relationship-- swiped right as well. Much to her excitement, a message appeared on her screen informing her that it was a match! Andrea, not being the shy type, decided to message Ben and see if he was sincere in his profile. After exchanging a few messages over a couple nights, Ben and Andrea found out that they had many things in common AND lived just miles away from each other in Burbank. It was decided. Ben and Andrea would meet in person at Lincoln Beer Company, a local Burbank brewery. As the first date neared, Andrea received wonderful news; she had received a major promotion! Though it was just a day before she was supposed to meet Ben for the first time-- and she could have been celebrating with friends and family she actually knew-- Andrea stayed true to her word and went on her date. On the evening of June 29, 2018, Ben and Andrea grabbed two seats towards the end of the bar and began a conversation that would go on, seamlessly, for three hours. After that magnificent evening, the pair decided to see each other again, and again, and again, and again, and again...
Andrea picked up the phone and the man on the other side informed her; "The couch is to be delivered on Sunday." A seemingly innocuous request. A request that would instantly set off Ben's heartburn and cause him to panic. You see, unbeknownst to Andrea, Ben had some big plans set for that day and he could not allow a mid-day couch delivery to ruin them. He quickly got on the phone and convinced them to deliver his couch as early in the day as possible. Once the couch was delivered, and Ben's stomach settled, the plans were set in motion. It started with Ben and Andrea's bi-annual trip to the Camarillo Outlets-- Ben's addicted to Clarks and Andrea gets along quite well with Loft. After a wonderful outing, Ben and Andrea took a drive down PCH and headed to one of Ben's favorite restaurants, Neptune's Net. Having never been there before, Andrea did not know what to expect; a perfect scenario for Ben. You see, Neptune's Net on a Sunday afternoon is beyond packed-- standing room only. Anticipating this, Ben had already devised the back-up plan, a nice dinner on the beach at El Matador. Though parking was a nightmare-- and Ben almost lost it trying to keep his plans intact-- the couple eventually made their way to the beach. Now, the reason Ben picked this beach is because it was always a place he considered to be beautiful; on a stretch of beach he had grown up going to. On this particular July evening the conditions were perfect-- if you ignore the massive crowds-- and Ben and Andrea had a lovely seafood dinner on the beach. After their meal Ben took Andrea's hand-- no, not yet-- and walked along the coast with her, discussing how wonderful their lives had been together. When he finally got her away from the crowds and into their own private section he could feel his heart beating through his chest. It was time. Ben turned to Andrea and, after a few sweet words, got down on one knee. He asked Andrea to be his wife. Through tears and nervous shaking Andrea said "YES!"
Given the COVID-19 pandemic we ended up getting married virtually with LA County on July 29, 2020. Despite everything going on in the world at the time, we wanted to still get married surrounded by close loved ones. It was truly a sentimental moment.
