In retrospect, locking two of the world’s most competitive people in an escape room for their first date may have been a recipe for disaster. Fortunately, Veronica and Nicholas quickly learned the complementary nature of their abilities. With a strong logical mind, Nicholas contributed many practical skills, including handling all mathematical equations. Always the creative, Veronica provided outlandish ideas that made absolutely zero sense and yet somehow miraculously helped. With 12 minutes to spare, they successfully escaped the room. But with their undeniably compatible humor, wit, sarcasm, faith, values, life goals and a strong mutual attraction, there was no escaping the fact that they were clearly meant to be together and they could not wait to see each other again. After what seemed like the longest week of all time, they met for a second date at a drive-in movie theater. The first movie shown, Ghostbusters, had them cringing but singing the theme. The second movie, Venom 3, was of no interest to them. So they laid down in the bed of Nicholas’s truck and competed to see who could find the most shooting stars. When Nicholas took an early lead of 3-1, Veronica did precisely what she needed to do to be victorious - cheat. Suddenly, a giggling Veronica was up 48-3 and having the best time (and not just because she was winning!) Nicholas mildly protested, but was too distracted by the realization that this was the woman he had been searching for to care about the competition. The ride home was somber for the budding couple as Veronica was supposed to fly home to California in just a few days and they were not going to see one another for 8 weeks. (A slight miscommunication made this reality that much more devastating! @Nicholas!!) Fate had other plans. Veronica's trip home was cancelled due to a scary family emergency (thanks for taking one for the team, Cole!) The new couple worked out their miscommunication and made plans to see each other again. And again. And again. And again. Just three short weeks after their first message, they had become inseparable best friends. Six weeks after that, they bought a ring. Some call it crazy. We call it love.
