Emily moved to New York on July 4th, 2016 from Phoenix, Arizona in order to pursue her artistic dreams, and be in proximity to her extended family. Although Emily was raised from a young age in the beautiful mountains of Colorado, she was actually born in Long Island, New York (just like Lu). With each family summer vacation to the East Coast, Emily grew more and more infatuated with the electricity and diversity of NYC, finding herself there permanently after six years of studying Dance and living in Phoenix, Arizona. Emily was the spirit, artistry, humor, compassion, and intellect of a true Western girl. Luis was born and raised in Long Island, New York. While he spent his childhood years exploring and working in NYC, Luis also honed his many interests through national and international travel. Growing up on Long Island threw Luis into the melting pot; the best of many worlds from food, to beach, music, to culture. Luis was the grit, work ethic, charisma, charm, and creative talent of a true New Yorker. Luis and Emily first met on a cool Fall night at the corner of Dean St and Brooklyn Ave, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Introduced to one another by a mutual friend through dance, Luis and Emily exchanged the normal 'hello' and 'nice to meet you' before entering what they thought would be just another house party... With a small Hornitos bottle in hand, Emily sat amongst the party, observing those known and unknown. As the classic Brooklyn brownstone started to fill with friends, and friends started to bend and blend with the music, Luis and Emily found themselves interacting. Like a scene out of your favorite 2000's dance movie, Emily and Luis playfully volleyed dance rounds, conversing through rhythm and movement. They stayed up into the early morning hours chatting and telling stories. As they both lived in Long Island, Luis suggested more outings in the future. The next day, Luis messaged Emily on Instagram to share his enjoyment in their meeting. For the months following Emily and Luis first introduction, they continued to talk every day, building an effortless friendship that would soon transform to romance. Their first date took place on December 4th, 2016. On New Year's Eve 2016, Luis asked Emily to be his girlfriend. Ten years later, Emily and Luis have danced over mountains, crossed deserts, swam oceans, and traversed continents together. Their next big adventure? Tying the knot with YOU as their witness.
