Kirby and Andrew were introduced when Andrew had just purchased a new home and needed help turning it into something that felt like his. Kirby stepped in to help with redecorating, and what started as a few design projects quickly became something more. After the initial work was done, Andrew wanted his designer to see everything in person, so he invited Kirby over. They walked through the house, talked through ideas, shared music, tasted bourbon, and slowly shifted from talking about walls and colors to talking about life, dreams, and who they really were. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Kirby realized she was already home. Right there, with Andrew. As the night unfolded, it became clear that each of them was what the other had been hoping for. Trust, passion, and a lot of laughter. Emphasis on the laughter. To be loved fully and accepted exactly as they each are, weirdness included. This was where their paths collided to start a life together that was easy and real. Andrew makes Kirby feel like she found a rainbow. And fittingly, Andrew often says Kirby brought color back into his life. She is his painter. Just like the song says, “My life was black and white, but she’s the painter.” Literally and figuratively. Together they have painted, remodeled, and helped transform Andrew’s house into their home. What began as a design project turned into a partnership, a love story, and a life they’re building together. And each is entirely grateful for the other one every. single. day.
Kirby is the self-appointed Brunch Queen. She believes breakfast foods are elite, especially when they pair well with booze. Casual weekends, good coffee, a little something bubbly, and her favorite people around the table are her happy place. While Kirby is usually the main cook at home, Andrew holds his own in the kitchen and makes a mean breakfast. Very early into their relationship, and fueled by just enough confidence and friendly competition, Andrew challenged Kirby’s best friend Margaret to what would become the first annual Waffle Off. Each competitor created a signature waffle. Friends and family were invited. Taste-testing was taken very seriously. Bragging rights were very much on the line. And so far, Margaret has reigned supreme every year. What started as a playful challenge quickly became a tradition. The Waffle Off is now a staple in their lives and one of their favorite ways to gather the people they love most. It’s loud, competitive, full of laughter, and exactly their kind of fun. Brunch has always been about more than food for Kirby and Andrew. It’s about slowing down, showing up for each other, and sharing a table with people who feel like home. And if you’re interested… let them know if you’d like an invite to the next Waffle Off. 🧇
