It all started with a simple tour of the ATO house. Angela was being shown around by one of her sorority sisters when she first saw James—and thought he was really cute. A little while later, fate stepped in again. Angela was out walking her dog with friends when James came longboarding by. So James walked over to say hello. They started talking, and when Angela mentioned she wanted to learn how to skate, he offered to teach her to longboard. Not long after, James asked her out, and their first dates quickly turned into a journey full of laughter, adventure, and love—a story that continues to grow every day.
The first time Angela and James officially said “I love you” was at a UMaine football game—on one of the coldest days imaginable. James was explaining the rules while Angela tried to focus, shivering under layers. In the middle of a burst of cheers (even though UMaine was definitely losing), Angela blurted out “I love you,” not even sure he’d heard her… she just couldn’t hold it in. James did hear her—he just pretended he didn’t. With a little grin, he teased her until she said it again, louder this time. And right there in the chaos, cold, and disappointment for UMaine, he said it back.
Angela had caught on when James suddenly insisted on a last-minute trip to Acadia—right before the Fourth of July—and absolutely had to bring Orion, their dog. Planning was chaos until Chase Miller (Angela's cousin's fiancé) stepped in to watch him. James became suspiciously organized: he planned the hike, booked dinner, and chose their favorite old B&B. When Angela showed up with very engagement-ready nails, he knew she knew—so he sent Brooke Igo on a secret (and very successful) distraction mission. Acadia greeted them with fog and rain as they started a hike Angela soon realized was one of their very first together. James just grinned. Halfway up, they searched for the spot of their first family photo—no luck—so they kept going, rain and all, finally finishing a mountain it had taken them four years to complete. On the way down, the weather softened into something straight out of The Notebook. James found the spot, took Angela to the exact place where they first became a little “family,” got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. They hiked down soaked, happy, and determined to keep it a secret. They didn’t. As soon as they got back from dinner, they immediately called their parents.
After falling in love, moving way too many times, teasing each other endlessly, and growing together, we’re excited to start this next chapter of creating more adventures, inside jokes, and stories we’ll tell forever and we can’t wait to share it with all of you as we build a beautiful, slightly chaotic life together. And so…. ITS TIME TO GET MARRIED!
