Olive or Twist... where it all started. We met up for a drink on a quiet Tuesday night downtown. Alex had just moved up from Southern California so I was excited to meet someone from my hometown. To best describe how I felt when I first saw him was - butterflies. Everything about our first date was so natural, we had great chemistry, conversations and common interests. One drink turned into two and conversations kept flowing so we kept the date going by heading to a nearby pool hall to play some billiards (he didn't let me win a single game, btw). Needless to say, our first date led to a second, then a third and now to a lifetime of dates.
Alex planned a romantic getaway weekend for us to explore the Oregon Coast for his birthday. We stayed at an Inn right along the coast of Lincoln City - it was perfect. After we unloaded the car and got settled into our room, we took Lexi on a walk along the beach. We were talking, laughing and throwing the ball for Lexi for a while before deciding to take a short break on a beached log to take in the beauty of the Oregon Coast. We started talking about us, our happiness, our love for one another and how great of a team we make. After a moment of silence, he grabbed my hand and said, "the greatest gift of my life would be if you said yes to the following question," he got down on one knee and asked, "will you marry me?" Without hesitation, I responded, "Yes!" I couldn't have asked for a more thoughtful and romantic way to be asked to be his wife. It was such a wonderful weekend celebrating Alex's birthday and our engagement.
