Our story began in 2019, in 9th grade English, when Jose moved from Texas to the small town of Athens, Alabama. By God’s perfect timing, we ended up in the same homeroom all throughout high school, which meant we saw each other every single day. It didn’t take long for a friendship to form, and over the years that bond grew stronger as we walked through life’s ups and downs together. Looking back, we can clearly see how the Lord intentionally placed us in each other’s lives at just the right time. Even in those early years, we always liked each other, and deep down we both knew that one day we wanted to get married. It was just a matter of waiting for the right season in God’s plan. Our high school years overflowed with memories that built the foundation of our relationship. You could find us cheering each other on at sports events, spending time together at church, and always grabbing fast food dinners together. In December of 2021, during our senior year, Jose asked me to be his girlfriend in the church parking lot before youth group. By then, it felt like the most natural next step—after all, we had already been such an important part of each other’s lives for years, and everyone around us could see where our story was headed. After graduation, we both went on to UAB, where our relationship continued to grow. Our college years were such a sweet season filled with late-night study dates, lots of cooking, everyday routines, and milestone moments that shaped not just our futures, but the life we were building together. In January of 2025, not long before we graduated college, Jose asked me the easiest question I could ever answer—he asked me to marry him! He proposed at my Nanny and Papa's house, a place that holds so many of my most treasured childhood memories. The moment was intimate, deeply meaningful, and overflowing with love. It was truly perfect in every way. From classmates to best friends, and high school sweethearts to soon-to-be husband and wife, our story has always been about growing up, growing together, and trusting the Lord’s timing. We are so thankful for the journey that brought us here and can’t wait to begin this next chapter as newlyweds! With so much love, The Future Vielmas
