We met in college at a mutual friend's birthday party. Both of us, freshly single, needed a beer-pong partner. During the game we chatted and exchanged phone numbers. We ended up losing the game because John knocked over most of the cups and almost the entire table trying to impress Taylor with his "skills". John fled the scene of the crime and did not talk to Taylor until the next day to apologize. This began a correspondence that has lasted until this very day.

At Miami University, where we met, there is a tradition that says if you kiss your significant other under the Upham Arch at midnight, you will be together forever. On December 11th, 2021 we did exactly that and began dating that night. John decided this was the perfect place to propose. With a lot of help he set up a very elaborate plan to get Taylor to Upham Arch where John would "surprise" her with an engagement ring. Everything went according to plan except for the surprise portion. Nonetheless, Taylor said yes!
